Nonantum General Manager Named Chair of Maine Restaurant Association

Chef Steve True

The Nonantum Resort’s Executive Chef Steve True was named 2014 Chef of the Year by the Maine Restaurant Association. Chef True cooks up creative New England cuisine, like his Signature Blueberry Chipotle BBQ Ribs, Maine Lobster Stuffed Avocado and nightly specials in 95 Ocean restaurant, using fresh and local ingredients like herbs from the resort’s gardens. Steve has been fulfilling his life-long passion as a chef for more than 30 years while living up and down the East Coast. He has been with the Nonantum for the past five years. Steve also volunteers his time in training up-and-coming culinary talent at Southern Maine Community College.

95 Ocean earns TV Diner’s Coveted Platinum Plate Award

July 2008 – 95 Ocean restaurant was visited but the popular show “TV Diner” hosted by Billy Costa and received the highest Platinum Plate rating.

Costa said, “The dining room of 95 Ocean has a bright ambiance, a sea shore theme and large picture windows offering gorgeous views of the water.”

“95 Ocean gives guests artfully presented dishes in a quiet, elegant atmosphere with wonderful service.” Of Chef True’s Lobster Stuffed Avocado, Costa said “Maine lobster never looked prettier or tasted better.” He remarked that the entrees were sensational, the service was great, and the prices were “appealing for quality and quantity.” Costa also described the Blueberry Crumb Pie as “sweet perfection.”
