95 Ocean at the Nonantum Resort Earns "TV Diner" Coveted Platinum Plate Award
"95 Ocean was visited but the popular TV Show "TV Diner" hosted by Billy Costa. TV Diner is noted for reviewing restaurants for NECN, New England Cable News, and giving them a culinary critic's rating of Silver, Gold or Platinum. The Nonantum Resort received the highest Platinum Plate rating, a result of an incognito visit to the restaurant earlier this summer.
"We are so proud of our chef, Steve True, who has created some unique and delicious offerings for our menu, which were singled out in this review by TV Diner. Our culinary team and wait staff also deserves credit for this impressive award, commented Innkeeper Jean Ginn-Marvin.
The TV Diner Show featuring 95 Ocean in the Nonantum Resort first aired on NECN July 12th, with video of 95 Ocean and the Nonantum Resort Dining Room overlooking the Kennebunk River. The TV Diner Show host Billy Costa said, "The Dining Room of 95 Ocean has bright ambiance, a sea shore theme and large picture windows offering gorgeous views of the water.
Among the numerous menu items sampled for the TV Diner Show were Chef True's Signature Blueberry Chipotle Ribs, and the Lobster Stuffed Avocado, which the restaurant critic described as follows, "Maine lobster never looked prettier or tasted better."
TV Diner show host, Billy Costa, referred to The Nonantum's entrees as stunning and sensational, the service as great, and prices as "appealing for quality and quantity."
Costa described the Key Lime Pie as a "tantalizing tandem," and the Blueberry Crumb Pie he called "sweet perfection."
Costa said in his TV Diner recommendation, "95 Ocean gives resort guests and the general public artfully presented dishes in a quiet, elegant atmosphere with wonderful service. 95 Ocean earns the Platinum Plate."
Executive Chef Steve True said he is very proud that The Nonantum received the top honor bestowed by the TV Diner Show. "We work hard to create interesting and appetizing menu items, to be recognized by such a well-respected and recognized TV show is exciting."
95 Ocean is open nightly for dinner, and The Nonantum offers live entertainment most nights for diners' pleasure, including the popular bands Taste of Lace, The Tony Boffa Trio, Don Campbell and The Thomas Snow Trio.
AOL Ranks Kennebunkport Top 10 Beach Town
The old-time fishing village of Kennebunkport is like a Currier and Ives print come to life (it's also the summer retreat of choice for George H.W. Bush). You can work on a lobster boat, fly-fish, or kayak past whimsical formations like Blowing Cave and Spouting Rock. Stroll by elaborate Federal and Victorian manses built by sea captains, many now housing inns, or experience history in motion at the Seashore Trolley Museum. Kennebunkport's riverside Dock Square teems with shops and galleries selling stoneware and watercolor seascapes, eco-chic boutiques stocking organic body gels, and of course purveyors of local blueberry jams. Old Orchard Beach features New England's only oceanfront amusement park where you can get your thrills on the Ferris wheel and roller coasters.
Tip: Enjoy live jazz several nights weekly at 95 Ocean, which also offers a great prix fixe pre-theater dinner.
