Nonantum Resort Creates a Tasty
Mango-Tango Tini
Cold
River Vodka enjoyed so much success during
its first year that several Maine bars and
restaurants were inspired to create
signature cocktails featuring the vodka.
Restaurant Oolong in Portland invented the
Lycheetini, 93 Townsend in Boothbay Harbor
features the Foxy Martini, Jonathan's in
Ogunquit offers the Elderberry Martini and
The Nonantum Resort in Kennebunkport serves
up their signature Mango-Tango Tini.
Created by restaurant manager Rich York, the
drink is made with Cold River Vodka and
mango puree. York says
he was looking to create a tropical drink to
highlight the vodka. "I didn't see anybody
using mango, so I decided to try that. I
also use some raspberry to sweeten up the
tartness. People tend to order it as an
appetizer type of drink."
So far the response has been very positive,
to both the Mango-Tango Tini, and Cold River
Vodka in general. "It has been very popular
with customers," says York. "Cold River
Vodka has done a good job of marketing the
brand, and people like to try it because it
is a product made in Maine."
York says they make a point to prominently
display the bottle on their liquor shelf,
and it is definitely catching customers'
interest. "People really react to the
bottle, it looks very inviting. They really
did a great job designing it."
York went on to add that when the Nonantum
Resort first started carrying the brand, a
customer visiting for a corporate event took
it upon himself to get up and give a speech
praising Cold River Vodka, and urging other
guests to try it.
RECIPE:
Mango-Tango Tini
2 ounces of Cold River Vodka
¾ ounce mango puree
Touch of chambord
Shake and pour into a sugar rimmed glass
